Dane M. A. Dasent, P.E.
Dane Dasent is part of the Higgins & Associates civil team. Dane’s technical expertise includes forensic investigation of the civil components of a site, and the design of repairs to correct improper construction as efficiently and cost-effectively as possible.
Prior to joining Higgins, Dane provided hydrologic and hydraulic design for highway projects for CDOT and FHWA, and led the civil engineering design teams for many commercial, residential, and institutional projects. He is a Certified Floodplain Manager, and many of his projects have included hydraulic and scour protection design of large bridges and culverts, and he has also prepared Letters of Map Revisions for FEMA regulatory floodplains.
Dane was also the lead civil design engineer for many US Army Corps of Engineers, US Air Force, and Air National Guard projects. Representative projects include Fort Carson, Fort Bliss, Vance Air Force Base, and Grand Forks Air Force Base. His design services included site layout and grading, utility design and analysis and storm drainage design, and all designs were required to meet military and anti-terrorism force protection standards.
He also has a background in structural design and construction and currently specializes in providing civil engineering analysis and design for the repair of improperly designed and constructed site grading, storm drainage systems, concrete flatwork and asphalt pavements, retaining walls and water line and sanitary sewer systems.
Dane has worked on hundreds of projects across the nation over the last 30 years, has written construction defect and standard of care reports, and has worked with relevant agencies to obtain approvals for civil new construction and repair projects. Dane also provides construction administration services that include site visits during construction in an owner’s representative capacity, and review of RFI’s and product submittals.
He provides expert witness services for failure investigation claims, design/construction defect claims and construction liability claims.
Dane is a registered Professional Engineer in Colorado and Texas, and obtained his professional engineer’s license in Ontario, Canada. He is also a LEED AP accredited professional.
