Founded in 2000, Higgins & Associates, Inc. is a rapidly expanding forensic engineering firm located in Littleton, Colorado. We provide engineering consulting, expert witness, construction quality assurance and cost consulting services to the insurance industry, law firms, contractors, homeonwers associations, and commercial/residential property owners.

We are looking for a skilled Accounting Administrator help manage an increasing amount of financial management tasks generated by our growing roster of clients. We offer a fun flexible work environment, excellent compensation, fully paid benefits and opportunities for career progression.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Proactively manage and administer various financial processes to assure the smooth and efficient running of the financial aspects of our business.
  2. Manage the weekly timesheet review and monthly invoicing process.
  3. Track and manage all aspects of accounts receivable, accounts payable, daily bank deposits and reconciliations.
  4. Manage and track project budgets, keeping project managers apprised of budget status and project progress.
  5. Develop monthly accounting reports, financial status reports and others as needed.
  6. Update and maintain Customer Relationship Management and marketing systems where needed.
  7. Provide proactive outreach to clients on invoice payment status, ensuring timely collection of receivables.
  8. Provide project cost and audit services in support of our Cost Consulting division.
  9. Provide some general office support on a back-up basis including answering phone calls, taking messages and following up on enquiries received via email or through the website.


Essential Technical Skills:

  • Strong bookkeeping and accounting skills.
  • A working knowledge of GAAP general accounting principles and practices.
  • Strong Microsoft Outlook, Excel and Word skills.
  • Experience with major accounting and ERP packages such as QuickBooks, Deltek, Oracle, or similar.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to develop practical solutions to problems using your own initiative.



Education/ Formal Training:

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Formal accounting training is highly preferred
  • 5-years experience in a professional services or technical industry
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a busy office setting with multiple contributors and projects
